Though a franchise catered towards kids, I believe there is potential to make a film about Alvin and The Chipmunks that would appeal to older audiences. Not by having the fictional characters do anything above a PG rating mind you, but rather a film based on the real-life events that lead to the franchise's conception. The story of how Ross Bagdasarian Sr. created The Chipmunk Song is one of rags-to-riches; and telling it in the form of a biopic film would be a great way to get the general public aware of his historical significance to the music industry.
