Communist China knows 'it can't beat us' instead it tries to 'buy us'

Communist China knows 'it can't beat us' instead it tries to 'buy us' Sky News host Peta Credlin says a communist dictatorship which "spies on its own citizens, bullies its neighbours, and locks up its minorities" China will never do Australia "any favours".

Ms Credlin argued for a total rethink of Australia's "over-reliance on China for so many of our daily necessities" including equipment needed during this coronavirus crisis, and medicines or pharmaceuticals.

She said China will "make use of us" where it serves its self-interest, but there will never be any "meeting of minds or shared values, while the communist party remains in charge".

"That's why we have to be so ultra-cautious about the so-called Belt and Road initiative that China is dangling before countries world-wide".

The Belt and Road initiative aims to create a new 'Silk Road' by funding and building railway lines from Beijing to Madrid, while also creating a "maritime belt" which would see a "string of China-funded and China-built ports" stretching from Africa to the Mediterranean.

"It's about making other countries economically dependent on China; it's a form of economic colonisation".

Ms Credlin said the communist government "know they can't beat us," so it is "trying to buy us instead".

She called for increased reform on foreign investment in order to avoid "foreign control, particularly in the case of China," which could see more in-depth assessments of foreign investment bids and what Australian assets would be allowed to be invested in.
