#EUBudget - VDL tells EU states that each depends on the other for their own economic prosperity

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen said in today's (15 April) conference on the exit strategy from the pandemic that the next European budget has to be the answer to the Coronavirus crisis. She stressed that this has to be completely different and has to have a front-loading element, so that there is huge investment in the first years. She said it is accepted and proven as the best instrument as it meet the needs of coherence and convergence. Von der Leyen stressed that it was not only a question of solidarity, but a question of self-interest for every member state, because each depends on the others for their own economic prosperity.
