Ireland could be facing many months of stop-start emergency measures to tackle the coronavirus as they are relaxed and restarted until a vaccine against the infection is available, it emerged yesterday. Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said there could be a point reached when the current phase of the crisis is contained to the extent that restrictions can be lifted and we have a real-time testing regime in place to detect any pattern showing another resurgence in cases.
