
For 4 servings;
Oil to drizzle over pan
For burgers
3 slices of bread, crusts removed
250 grams or 4 handfuls of any minced meat (5% or more fat is good) or Quorn
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 onion, peeled & chopped in half
1 garlic clove, peeled
1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs or small handful of mixture of fresh herbs
1 small beetroot (peel it if fresh) or 1 small carrot (washed but no need to peel)
*1/ Blitz bread in a food processor until you get a fine consistency. Place rest of the burger ingredients in a food processor & pulse until well just combined.
2/ Divide mixture into 4 portions and gently form into a burger.
3/ Place frypan on medium heat and just cover the base with oil, heat oil until just a piece of mince just sizzles
4/ Cook your burgers in preheated pan, they should gentoy sizzle. Using an egg slice flip after 3-4 minutes or lightly browned. Cook for further 4-6 minutes until just cooked.
*If you haven't got a food processor, chop the onions and garlic into small pieces, rub the bread through your fingers to smallish crumbs , grate veges; throw everything onto a large mixing bowl & squish together with clean hands or with a fork.
Serve with lettuce, slices of cheese, tomatoes, mayonnaise, pineapple, fried egg, bacon....or whatever is your favourite topping - maybe slices of jalapenos?
