UK plans to roll out vaccine by autumn if trials succeed as COVID-19 deaths rise by 170

UK plans to roll out vaccine by autumn if trials succeed as COVID-19 deaths rise by 170 Business Secretary Alok Sharma has outlined plans to develop a vaccine as coronavirus-related deaths increase to 34,636 in the United Kingdom.

In the daily coronavirus briefing, Mr Sharma said if trials of Oxford’s vaccine are successful, AstraZeneca would work to make 30 million doses available to the UK by September.

He said another £93m will be spent building a vaccine centre - now scheduled to open in summer 2021 - which should be able to produce enough vaccines for the entire UK population within six months.
