Global National: April 16, 2020 | Quebec reaches deal with specialized doctors amid care home crisis

Global National: April 16, 2020 | Quebec reaches deal with specialized doctors amid care home crisis Quebec has negotiated a deal with specialized doctors to help support long-term care homes struggling to contain devastating COVID-19 outbreaks. Mike Armstrong explains why this deal is causing some controversy.

In Alberta, at least 12 workers at the Kearl Lake oilsands project north of Fort McMurray have tested positive for COVID-19. Heather Yourex-West looks at the race to contain the outbreak, and why closing the camp isn't an option.

Meanwhile, as COVID-19 cases continue to soar in the U.S., President Donald Trump is facing growing pressure to reopen the economy. He's now unveiled guidelines to get things back on track, but as Jackson Proskow reports, experts warn it is too dangerous and may be too soon.

Tentative plans are also being made to reopen some businesses in Canada. But as Eric Sorensen explains, the eagerness to slowly restart the economy is being weighed against the risk of a second, stronger wave of coronavirus cases.

Plus, to determine whether someone has had COVID-19, specialized antibody tests are being produced worldwide. They're meant to detect antibodies in our blood that fight off or have fought off the virus. As Crystal Goomansingh explains, health experts say more research is needed before these tests are widely used.

Can blasting hot air up your nostrils, gargling vinegar, or drinking herbal tea cure COVID-19? Jeff Semple asked the experts to help us separate fact from fiction.
